Hi there.

Been so busy(I mean really, really busy) with my new job at the second law firm where I have been working at since the beginning of August. It was my dream job and I heard how stressful and tiring it would be to work there. The overtime, loads of work to be done, and unlike a normal secretary, you have two or three bosses. For a newcomer like me, I have two lawyers to serve. Been absolutely daunting past two weeks when I had to stay back A LOT to help with the impending trial. One day I stayed after work till 5am. Another day was a Saturday when I went back to the office from 1pm to 12am. And, Human Resource later told me that to claim overtime on Saturday would be from 2pm onwards because they fucking included the lunchtime. Who the fuck includes lunchtime on Saturday since it is officially a halfday till 1pm only. But, I couldn't be bothered to argue that because not only was I exhausted, I wasn't that petty about one extra hour. Fine, in future if I have to come back on a Saturday again, I would go for lunch and only come back at 2pm.

Anyway enough of ranting about my job, nobody wants to read about job stuff. Boring shit.

It's been five months of singlehood for me. Unlike people who cannot withstand being alone, I am enjoying being single and living according to my own rules for now. Maybe I'll meet an interesting guy someday and we'll hook up. But till then, I'm happy. :)

It's a natural occurrence to grow out of things. A song, a dress which you loved and had to wear at least once every week, a crush, even a friend. That's probably why people 'grow' apart and it's silly to ask me why I took three and a half years to figure out that my second last relationship did not work out. We just grew out of each other towards the end. People change and the goals we have in life change. One day you wake up and realize things are not going to work out no matter how hard you try, because you no longer share the same goals in life. And you are no longer the same person you were that three and half years ago.

Till next time. xx

Sigh

My family is drifting apart. I think I'm the only one in the family brooding over it.

Tired from work. Wished we worked lesser hours a day like some other countries. Work is not everything! It's something we need to survive, but it is not LIFE. We don't live in this world to slog. We live for a purpose that is not to work like cows. I'm just sleepy.

Watsons Haul

Hi there! I had a mini Watsons shopping spree today after lunch with my family. Spent about fifteen minutes there alone and ended up spending over $80! :S Told you that Watsons (and Sephora) were my personal danger zones. I actually like their branch at Takashimaya, Orchard the most as it's the biggest and offers the most variety of products. But, the one at Hougang Mall (convenient for me!) isn't too bad. My favourite section is definitely the cosmetic section, especially the designated shelf for all the Japanese cosmetic products. So here's what I bought today:

1) KOJI Curving Eyelash Curler - S$33.90

Information at the back of the box.

You also get a plastic cover designated for this curler.

It is said to have a special curve for easier usage.

This is the whole package - curler, cover and extra rubbers (not sure what that's called, hehe).

2) BROWLASH EX Volume Up Fiber Mascara (Brown) - S$24.90
I got this as I've been wanting to get a brown mascara for the longest time but never got one because I was hesitating all the time. But, I saw this for the first time and thought to give it a try. I've used other Browlash EX's mascara before and the results were pretty good.

Description at the back (Please right click to open in new tab for a bigger picture.)

Mascara bottle

Here's how the wand looks like. I like how the tip is smaller and thin so it will be easier getting the lashes at the corners.

3) KATE Eyebrow Pencil (BR-5 Dark Brown) - S$11.50

Here is the description, not much though.

4) MAJOLICA MAJORCA Cream Pencil (Eye)Liner (BR677) - S$14.50

I know everything's in Japanese but thought some of you may still want to have a look.

Swatch - the darkest line. It's really easy to draw with this as it's a creamy formula and the result is a dark and intense brown colour.

That's all. Thanks for looking! Have a great week ahead! =)

My Work

Hello! It's Friday and I'm loving it as the weekend is here! Today was my third day at work, technically second full day of hands-on training. I work from Mondays to Fridays, nine hours a day including an hour for lunch. The working hours are like usual office hours, from morning till evening. It's great, but sometimes I have trouble sleeping on time because my mind's too hyper from watching a funny video or I'm thinking too much. So, it makes me really tired the next day. Crap. I digressed.

Anyway, let me tell you a bit about my new job. I'm working at a (big) law firm located at Clarke Quay. I work as a Client Services Officer (that's what they call it) at the Front Office. I'm basically a receptionist! I answer phone calls, transfer them, help to book meeting rooms, greet and assist visitors, answer emails with regards to these matters, etc... I wouldn't say this job has no challenges because as a new staff, I have to try to remember the faces of my other colleagues. There are like four to five hundred of them! Besides that, the job's main scope is basically as I've mentioned. It's not very stressful and I get to go home on the dot. No overtime possibility at all so that's good.

The travelling time to work and back home is about 45 minutes each, which includes walking to the bus station, taking the bus to the train station, and then train trip to Clarke Quay, followed by a five minutes walk to the office through a small park where I will also pass by the police station. The office environment is pretty nice, I would say. Glass windows - natural lighting, 20th floor, modern, classy, clean, though it gets a little too cold sometimes because of the air-conditioning. It's not very far - about five to ten minutes walk depending on the place - to walk to get lunch everyday. There is an abundant supply of restaurants, cafes, fast food restaurants, and a hawker centre closeby. But they are always so packed with other office workers during lunch hour, whether I go to lunch at 12pm or 1pm. No tea breaks or breakfast time given by the company, though.

Till now, although I've only worked for three days, I like this job, my colleagues at the Front Office, and the environment. I also like that I can go home for dinner, or for my case, it means usually eating out with my family. I'm glad to have this job and I hope things will run smoothly.

Cheers! Have a great weekend! =)

Goals 2012

I'm always wondering where the heck I spent my previous salaries on. And, I did figure something out! On cosmetics and skincare!! They are my weak spot, really. A trip to Sephora or Watsons is deemed highly dangerous for yours truly as I get soo tempted. Le sigh. So, I decided to stop squandering my money on these because I have a bad habit of not using them after a couple of times due to laziness. Currently, I am trying to finish using my one bottle of toner, one bottle of moisturiser, three tubes of facial cleansers, and two cases of two-way cake foundation before I start buying any more to replace them.

Hopefully with the money I save, I can use to buy more 'worthy'(in my personal opinion) items like a bag or pearl earrings. Which brings me to the main purpose of this entry. I want a new bag and pearl earrings! Or, I NEED a new bag. No, I do not have many bags. In fact, I am currently left with one functional bag I can use for going out or to work. But using this all the time and for almost a year now is leaving this wonderful bag looking old and battered. But, it ain't easy for me to find designs which I like. Whether it is for bags or clothing or shoes. So, I finally saw something which I like online and buying it has become one of my goals for the second half of 2012. Woohoo! May I present you...

Burberry's small Nova Check Tote Bag

  • 23 x 30.5 x 14cm
  • 9 x 12 x 5.5in
  • 90% PVC, 10% cotton with leather trim
  • Tonal cotton lining
*All pictures and bag information obtained from the online store.

Nice?? Hahaha! I think it looks cute and the check is diagonally patterned, which I think looks nicer than the horizontal check.

I'm starting work at a new place coming Wednesday. This shall be my goal to work towards. =)

How I Spent One Sunday

Today, my friend Lu and I went to explore two shopping malls in the Jurong area. It takes about an hour to travel there as both of us live in the North. We initially planned to only visit the new mall called JCube that has an ice-skating rink and was supposedly huge (just hearsay, bleah!). It was disappointingly smaller than expected even though it had the rink and cinema.

We had lunch at this restaurant named 搃朹揰挗.

To be honest, it was nothing awesome. Left with 'nowhere' to walk, we decided to head to Jurong Point at Boon Lay which was way larger in comparison. Anyway, I don't think either of us would go back to these places anytime soon, or ever. They are out of the way for us and there's nothing out of the ordinary that attracts me, except for the ice-skating rink. But the thing is, neither of us knows how to ice-skate. Maybe if I get someone to teach me, then I would go back. Hehe!

Bedroom makeover

I've been researching for ideas to revamp my bedroom, which needs to be redecorated and refurnitured. I like a simple and really livable kind of bedroom that provides a good atmosphere to relax. To be somewhere I would look forward to be in after a long day outside.

Here are a couple of photos of bedrooms I collected from the internet, which I thought had some good ideas or looked lovely.

I really like this colour theme. This bedroom looks cosy and comfortable.

An all-white bedroom looks really clean and pleasing to the eyes but if not well-maintained... Anyway, I like the furniture layout, how they are placed side-by side(drawer chest, clothes hang, bed) but the space doesn't look congested.

This is something I thought I would only see in fairytales. The bed looks inspired by poster beds but branches decorated with ornaments are used to replace the usual wood pillars. Such a creative idea!

A bedroom with a small 'living room' area is something I can consider. It looks like something I would definitely look forward to coming home -  chilling out in the comforts of my own room.

Star-shaped dream catchers and hanging Christmas lights add such a lovely touch to a room.

I suppose I will have to start by deciding if I want to repaint my bedroom. It is currently lilac with black window frames. I think a cream or off-white colour would be lovely. But, having to paint alone is such a task. Previously, my ex ex painted with me and he was such a help! (really am grateful)

Then, probably a trip to Ikea. =)

Have a great weekend!

It's been a while. Sorry for the wait. Much has happened over the past couple of months as you can expect

Firstly, I quit my previous job after nine months of working there. Got a two-month and a half rest at home. It was great! I managed to find a new job which I will be starting next week. Hopefully I will last longer there. =X

Secondly, I went on a trip this year in February to Taiwan. I love Taipei! Would like to go there again.

Last but not least, I had a relationship for about two months before we called it quits. We (my ex & I) met on Christmas with our mutual friends. We got together a couple of weeks later (not a wise choice, I know now). I guess things just happened too quickly. That probably explains why it ended quickly as well. I don't see getting together quickly as a completely bad choice, but probably not a sound one in most cases. Because I did get together at a rather fast pace with my previous ex before this one and our relationship lasted three and a half years. I think the main problem is the person I was involved with. Although everything ended in a jiffy, I'm glad I didn't waste our time any longer. It was clear after about one and a half months of being together that we were obviously not suitable for each other.

I'm very happy put all these behind me and look forward to my new 9-6 office job. A totally new start awaits me! =)

Mind's a mess. Life has been a mess. But still trying to live my life in the most beautiful way I can think of.

Documenting seems like a great idea. So I'll try to blog more. Hopefully with pictures.
